Chrisman-Snook surgery is performed on individuals who have severely damaged their ankles. Their tendon has detached from the ankle bone and the reattachment involves sutures and staples. The invasive procedure involves a significant rehab once the wound from the surgery has healed.

    Stationary bike

  1. The stationary bike is the first exercise that you should try after Chrisman-Snook surgery. Set the resistance low when you first start out and pedal for five to 10 minutes. As you continue to progress, add resistance to your pedaling and try to work your way up to 20 minutes on the bike.
  2. Toe raises

  3. This exercise will help you get back function and range of motion in your ankle. Stand with your toes on a plank and your heels on the floor. Press up so that your heels are in the air. Return to your original position. Repeat the exercise 10 times, take a 30-second break and do it again.
  4. Balance board

  5. Once you have been working out on the exercise bike and you have been doing your toe raises, try the balance board. Stand in the middle of the device and attempt to stay on your feet. The action will be much like the way a surfer tries to stay on his board when plying his craft. The ability to succeed at this exercise will increase stability and strength in the ankle.
