Long, wavy hairstyles are modern because they look natural and slightly unkempt, in a chic way. The days of stuffy, over styled 'dos are long gone, so embrace your waves and experiment.

    Quick

  1. If your hair is damp, a slick chignon will always do the trick. It may not show off your waves, but it will leave them to dry so they're enhanced. Take damp hair and work some styling cream through it. Gather hair at the nape of the neck and begin twisting to the end of hair. You should have a twisted ponytail. Bring it around, winding it into a bun and secure with a hair elastic. If you're going out, throw on big earrings for a look that is incredibly chic, but requires just a few minutes to put together.
  2. Casual

  3. If hair is already dry or you're dealing with day-after hair (meaning the day after it's been washed), coil hair into a bun at the side of the neck while a few tendrils hang up front, framing your face. It's fast and looks great for a casual outing.

Or, part hair wherever you're comfortable--a deep side part or a middle part both work beautifully with this hairstyle. Starting at the front of the part, begin to French braid hair, stopping once you reach the nape of your neck (or a little higher, depending where you'd like the ponytail to start). Gather the remaining hair in a ponytail, adding a bit of hairspray to add volume.

You can also let your hair dry naturally and then go over waves with a wide barrel curling iron to add lift. This hairstyle is glamorous and works well with a simple, casual outfit like a T-shirt, slim jeans and flats. Ideal for a dinner date or grabbing coffee with friends.
  4. Evening

  5. For evening, bring hair away from the face. Keeping hair wavy, try a semi-messy chignon. This works best with long, wavy hair that is damp or dry. Part hair on the side or in the middle. Bring hair to the nape of the neck and gently twist, to keep the chignon slightly loose. Coil hair and secure with bobby pins to secure the chignon in a more relaxed manner. This shows off waves and results in a more textured look than pulling hair tight and securing with a hair elastic. For an even more dramatic look, bring hair to the top of the head for a loose bun. Work shine serum through hair before either hairstyle to enhance hair's luster and create a more polished feel for your wavy hair. Don't worry if there are a few hairs out of place. A bohemian chic style is a fantastic contrast to evening wear.
