Fun & Free Marketing Ideas

Marketing does not need to cost a fortune or become tedious for you. Effective marketing often mixes carefully planned advertising and promotional giveaways that require an investment, but there are plenty of marketing activities that cost nothing and help to add a little fun to your business day.

  1. Blogging

    • The Internet offers many different ways to market your company and your product for free, but one of the most interactive ways is through blogging. With blogging you get to create your own world where your opinion is what matters, and the advice you give is extremely important. The more interesting you make your blog, and the more time you spend promoting it, the more traffic you will get. You can dress up the blog website in your company colors and logo, and you can invite people to give their opinions on your products and services. Interaction with customers can get interesting, and it can be refreshing to see what they think of your product or service. You can use this input to improve your offering, and you can engage your customers in healthy debate. Blogging can be addictive, so don't spend too much business time blogging. But the interaction with customers can improve your company's product and increase revenues.

    Networking

    • Joining your local chamber of commerce or other community groups allows you to meet business professionals, promote your business and keep up with your community. You can gauge reaction to your product or service in the local business community, and you can find out what marketing approaches are working for other business owners. Getting together with local business people will help you build bonds that can lead to referrals, and it can also help to increase your sphere of influence in the community. You may want to get involved in community events such as charity fundraisers to help spread your company name and increase revenue.

    Holidays

    • Sometimes you can use the time of year to create an inexpensive, fun marketing program. Around the winter holidays, you can collect toys or holiday ornaments for needy families. It does not take a lot to put a barrel in the front of your business and put up a sign that explains what you are doing, and people may be grateful. Charitable activity might attract coverage by local TV and newspapers, and there is no better advertising than the kind you do not have to buy.
