- When choosing colors think of the colors found in nature. The main colors used in a Western-style decor are tans, honey, brown, black, white and gray. Honey colored walls are the mainstay and light colored wood paneling is common. Two toned walls work well by either separating the colors with a chair railing or using wainscoting on the bottom part of the wall. Black is commonly used in metals such as wall sconces, door handles and lamp bases. Accent colors are terra cotta, brick red, forest green and navy blue.
- Typical Western-style furniture includes leather couches and rustic wood tables and chairs. Other popular items include furnishings made out of wagon wheels and antlers. Cow hide printed material is often seen on furniture and rustic plank wood flooring is common. Chandeliers, lamps and tables made out of antlers is a common look.
