Ferrum phosphoricum is a homeopathic remedy that is used to treat inflammation within the shoulders, mainly for issues within the right shoulder. Ferrum phosphoricum treats not only the shoulder pain but also reduces the tingling sensation that extends from the shoulder to the wrist and hand. Along with this internal treatment, cold compresses and gentle massaging on the shoulder will relieve inflammation and dull sharp pains.
Ferrum phosphoricum is available in tablet form and will quickly dissolve in the mouth for near-instant relief. This tablet comes in two strengths, 6X and 12X, however the recommended strength for both children and adults is 6X. Place the tablet directly under the tongue and allow it to dissolve, which normally takes two to four minutes. Repeat four times per day for inflammation and pain relief; for severe shoulder pain, increase the dosage to eight tablets per day. -
Bryonia alba is used for shoulder pain that involves a severe stitching or tearing sensation. These symptoms are aggravated by vertical and lateral movements and are caused by the mucous membranes losing moisture. This loss of moisture creates friction between the joints, felt as intense stabbing sensations in the shoulder. The first documented use of bryonia alba for medicinal purposes was cataloged in the1653 issues of the London Dispensatory.
To treat shoulder inflammation and to ease the tearing sensation, mix one teaspoon of bryonia alba into four ounces of water and stir. Consume this mixture two times per day until the shoulder pain lessens. -
According to the medical center at the University of Maryland, medical uses for arnica montana dates back to the 1500s, when it was used topically to treat muscle inflammation and pain. This homeopathic remedy is ideal for shoulder pain that occurs from an injury or when a muscle is strained and feels bruised or sore. This plant is native to parts of Europe as well as in North America, and once cultivated, the flower heads are used for medicinal purposes.
Arnica montana should not be used as an internal medicine as it can cause heartbeat irregularities as well as intense spells of dizziness. When used externally, side effects are rare but may include rashes and blisters. These rare symptoms are normally experienced only after an extended period of topical use.
To use as a topical application, place four drops of arnica montana oil into two ounces of water and stir. Use a soft cloth to gently cover the affected shoulder with the mixture. Once the area is sufficiently drenched, massage the mixture into the skin for ten minutes. Repeat once per day until the shoulder pain has subsided.
