If you are interested in looking good, then you may have thought about getting a hair weave at some point in your life. Beauty is not just about the clothes you wear or the expense of your makeup, but it is also about having a "tight" hairstyle. The proper hair weave can give you more control over your image and help you realize the vision you have of yourself.

    Types of Hair

  1. Just as you must consider the type of hair you will use for your hair weave, so you will need to understand the various hair weave techniques available. The hair weave technique may depend on whether you choose synthetic hair or natural hair. Synthetic hair is fine for braided or twisted weaves but not recommended for free-flowing hair weaves.

There are many types of natural hair as well; Asian, European or Virgin hair. The type you pick will make a difference in how your hairstylist approaches the hair weave technique for you.
  2. Hair Weave Applications

  3. There are two primary application methods for hair weaves: single strand or weft. Single strand applications involve applying the new hair directly to your own hair in clusters of 20 to 50 hairs at a time. They can be attached with heat fusion, waxes or adhesive. Weft applications involve larger groups of hair that are connected at the top and free flowing at the bottom, resembling a curtain.

There are two types of wefts; handmade and machine made. Of course the handmade wefts are better quality and consequently more expensive.
  4. Hair Weave Bonding--Fusion is the Best

  5. You can have your weave bonded by braiding, bonding or fusion.

The braided method involves styling your natural hair into cornrows and then sewing the new hair in by using weaving thread. Your natural hair can be combed over the cornrows so that they are invisible. While this is the most natural type of weave and is generally gentler for your hair and skin, it must be taken care of meticulously in order to prevent pulling out your natural hair. You also must keep the scalp around the cornrows moisturized. This type of weave lasts around 2 months.

The bonding method involves sectioning off your hair and then applying the fake hair with adhesive. The glue itself can be a bit damaging to your scalp and hair, and so should be used sparingly. Sometimes people have an allergic reaction to the adhesive. This type of weave lasts 2 to 3 months and should be removed by a professional so the damage to your natural hair is minimized.

Fusion weaves are the most expensive but best type of weave to have. Consequently, fusion weaves look more natural and tend to last 2 to 3 months longer. Fusion weaves involve dividing your natural hair into sections and applying wax adhesive via cold or hot fusion to bond the fake hair to the natural hair.

If you are looking for longevity and the most natural look possible, fusion bonding is the way to go provided you can afford it.
