The next time you want to give your pet a reward, try these homemade dog cookies. Delicious and nutritious, these treats will keep your pet happy. They're simple to make and come in several varieties. Find out which cookies your dog prefers, and whip up a batch on a rainy day.

    Beef Cookies

  1. To make these meaty cookies for your pet, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine two 6-ounce jars of beef and vegetable baby food, 2 cups nonfat dry milk, and 1 cup of wheat germ. After these have been well mixed in a large bowl, grease a pan and spoon out small blobs of the mix to create cookies. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until they are a light brown.
  2. Carrot Cookies

  3. For carrot cookies, combine 2 eggs, 2 cups of boiled and pureed carrots, and 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. When the mixture is well blended and smooth, add 2 cups of unbleached flour, 1/4 cup of wheat germ, and 1 cup of rolled oats to the mixture; mix slightly. (Rice or rye flour may be substituted for the unbleached flour.) Pour the mixture onto a floured cutting board and use a rolling pin to smooth it out. Cut the mixture into round cookies or doggy shapes such as bones and doghouses, and bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes to create delicious carrot cookies.
  4. Dog Cookies

  5. These simple-to-make dog cookies are a tempting treat for your pet. Combine 1/4 cup of cornmeal, 1/4 cup of cooked rice, 4 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 egg, squeezed juice from a small sized orange, 1-2/3 cups of water, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Spread a light coating of flour onto a hard surface and pour the mixture out. Knead the mixture and smooth with a rolling pin to 1/8-inch thick. Cut out the cookies and they're ready to serve. No baking necessary!
  6. Soft Cookies

  7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine three jars of beef or chicken baby food, 1/4 cup of wheat germ, and 1/4 cup of dry milk powder. Take small chunks of the mixture and roll into balls, placing them on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten them and bake for 15 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool; refrigerate the leftover cookies.
