Bold, brilliant colors were common in the 1960's. Use any combination as long as the colors are bright. The more contrasting the colors, the better.
Walls painted in blocks of different colors were common. To do: use 2- to 3-inch-wide masking tape to mark off squares of varying sizes on a wall; paint each square a different bold color, let dry and remove tape. Only paint one wall. -
Lava lampFurnishings were playful and garish. Add bean bag chairs or a plastic blow up chair. Hang a beaded curtain across a doorway or in place of a closet door. Use white painted wooden furniture such as a desk and chair or headboard for your bed. To finish the look, lay a shag rug on the floor and replace the ceiling light fixture with a disco ball. Of course, don't forget the lava lamp. -
60's flowersTo pull the room together, paint or stencil big, bold-colored daisies on the walls along with a peace sign over the bed. Frame old album covers and hang on the walls--Beatles, Monkees, and The Rolling Stones. And don't forget an anti-war poster. Add some incense sticks, and you have transported yourself back into the 1960's.
