Few things are as heartwarming and snuggly as country bears and bunnies. All dressed up with accessories and clothing, they personify the rugged and lovable aspects of the people we love, except they have furry little faces and make great decorating inspiration. You can decorate with a country bear and bunny in just one room, or in every room. Collectible country bears and bunnies can go all over the house.

    Country Bear and Bunny Linens

  1. Country bear and bunny towels, sheets and decorative window valances are available at most linen retailers. They come in several color schemes. For example, pastel bears and bunnies reminiscent of the writer Beatrix Potter's "Country Bunny" character are available for children's rooms and nurseries. If you want to use the characters from the Country Bear Jamboree that Disney popularized, for example, your matching color scheme will need to include darker color tones of maroon, tan, black and forest green. Use the bears and bunnies in your collection to help determine your particular color scheme. Add darker solid colors to balance the "busy bear" patterns that are popular.
  2. Display Collectible Country Bears and Bunnies

  3. Some country bears are just stuffed teddy bears with clothes on, but if you are collecting Boyds Bears collectibles, or any other bear or bunny work of art, it is important to set them aside to protect them. Guests may not realize that these are collectible if you do not provide the items a special place to display them. Consider investing in a lighted display cabinet or designating one shelf or tabletop specifically for your expensive collection.
  4. Bears and Bunnies in Unexpected Places

  5. Perhaps you have seen the popular craft-show bunnies that cover vacuum cleaners. They are easy to make. Dress your favorite bunny in a long dress. Wrap her bottom half up tightly, from her feet all the way up to the armpits. This is for stability, but it also makes it easier to take the cover off and put it back on. Finally, stitch a 4-to-6 inch length of elastic, in a 1-to-2 inch width, to make a loop at the base of her armpits. This will help her stay attached to the handle of the vacuum.
  6. Stuffed Bears vs. Bear Figurines

  7. If you have been diagnosed with asthma or an allergy to dust mites, be careful about using stuffed animals in your decor. These stuffed animals can harbor allergens and dust mites that may exacerbate your medical condition. You can still use a country bear and bunny theme, but you will need to stick with wall art, figurines and washable textiles. Animals with faux fur are often damaged by being placed in the dryer. Alternatively, you could hang them in the sunshine to dry.
