Celebrity culture, movies and music are just a few of the places where today's teenagers get ideas for how to wear their hair. The phenomenon is nothing new: Farrah Fawcett's golden locks inspired women in the 1970s, and "The Rachel" cut sported by Jennifer Aniston was everywhere during the height of the television series "Friends" in the 1990s. Read on for some of the hottest styles--and celebrity cuts--for today's teens.

    Celebrity Hair

  1. Many celebrities have enviable hair. Jessica Simpson, Halle Barry, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and Angelina Jolie all have had hairstyles admired by teens. Barry's pixie cut, Simpson's long Texas curls and Lohan's red color are just some of the trends these celebrities have spawned. For those wishing to copy a celebrity style, take an picture of the celebrity to a stylist. Magazines are good sources. Usually a stylist can tell a client if the cut will work with the texture of her hair. If it won't, the stylist usually can suggest a similar style to achieve the feel of the look.
  2. Color

  3. Celebrities and musicians--from Avril Lavigne to Rihanna--love to experiment with color. Teenagers likely will want to try some too. Whether it be chunky highlights or a streak of just one color, teenagers can pull off more dramatic looks than adults. Even a streak of a primary color can work for brave teens. Parents might be resistant to this trend, but a semi-permanent or washable color could work best to satisfy everyone. There are many to choose from on the market today.
  4. Styles for Guys

Male celebrities like Zac Efron, Chase Crawford and Kanye West are leading the stylish brigade for men these days. Men who want a celebrity-inspired cut should follow the same path as women and check with a stylist before getting a style that might turn out to be unflattering. Products on the market today, such as clay and pomade, make it easy for men to sculpt their hair into the latest style.
