Business flyers are a great marketing tool. These promotional items can be created quickly, printed cheaply and used for a number of advertising purposes. All types of businesses can benefit from using these flyers. Putting together a business flyer only takes an idea or purpose, text, pictures and a little creativity.

    Decide on a Purpose

  1. Figure out what you want to accomplish with your business flyer. Are you having a sale, offering discounted prices or promoting a specific product or service? It is best to keep the flyer to one theme or purpose. You do not want to include too much information, making the flyer cluttered and losing the theme among the mess of information shown. The main objective of a business flyer is to draw the attention of a prospective client. You want to relay your message quickly in easy-to-understand terms. Think about what type of announcement you want to make and how you would like to state it.
  2. Basic Business Flyer Details

  3. Remember to incorporate the essential details of your business into the flyer design. Include basic data such as the business' name, physical address (do you need to include a map?), email and website address, phone (fax and cell) numbers as well as hours of operation. All of the applicable business details should be in large, easy-to-read lettering. This is especially true for the phone number of the business. Make sure it can be read effortlessly. Use the same style of text that is on your business cards or other company publications. Do you have a business logo that you want to include in the flyer? It is a good idea to place it on the flyer along with any other pictures or graphics associated with your business.
  4. Additional Tips and Ideas

  5. Figure out what type of graphics or pictures you want to put on the flyer. Use ones that represent your business specifically or the purpose of the flyer. Use your own pictures, clipart or graphics or find some free ones online. Match these with the theme, such as adding holiday decorations to a flyer about a holiday sale or inserting pictures of home theater systems for a company dealing with these. If you need to alter the graphics, you can use Picasa, a free program available online.

Try out various placements of the text and graphics on the flyer. Accomplish this using a desktop publishing program, like Microsoft Publisher, or by hand. Print copies of text and pictures, cut these out and put them on a piece of paper, making a rough draft. Decide what layout looks best. Aim to draw the reader (future customer) to your flyer and get your message across easily.

Save money on printing through making half-page flyers instead of using the full sheet. This supplies you with twice as many flyers for the same price of printing. Simply cut the pages in half for distribution. Print flyers on bright colorful paper to draw attention to it. This also permits you to use only black ink for printing, which can save on the overall cost, too.
