Men's winter fashion can be more than jeans and wool sweaters. While basics are always a worthy option, men have many more options to include into their fashion repertoire in the winter. So whether you are bold or someone looking for functional articles of clothing for protection from the winter elements, you have many choice for winter fashions.

    Dressy Winter Fashion

  1. Choose materials like cashmere and wool tweeds if you are looking for dressy men's fashion. Sport coats in a cashmere and wool blend provide a soft and luxurious hand while providing warmth for cold winter temperatures. Use multiple layers under a cashmere or tweed sport coat to provide for fluctuating temperatures. You can add a thin cashmere v-neck sweater and a dress shirt underneath a sport coat.
Colors for each layer can range in the muted earth colors like tan, olive and black; more fashion-conscious men can wear bolder colors. Finish off your outfit with a cashmere scarf and matching gloves. Pants options can include wool flat front pants or simple khakis.
Stores like Brooks Brothers, Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue have extensive men's departments with dressy winter fashions for men.
  2. Casual Winter Fashion

  3. Dress for everyday winter fashion can include materials like 100 percent wool and woven and knit cotton blends. Purchase wool sweaters and layer with cotton turtlenecks or cotton woven shirts with collars. Jeans and cotton khakis pair perfectly with simple sweater and turtleneck options.
Choose overcoats like a barn jacket or leather bomber jacket for warmth. A leather car coat is always a smart casual choice for a warm but stylish winter coat.
Retailers like Macy's, Kohl's and JCPenney have extensive selections of men's winter fashions on a seasonal basis.
  4. Sporty Winter Fashion

  5. Opt for functional materials with a fashionable flair for winter sports. The key to sporty winter fashions is that the material should protect from harsh winter temperatures and wet winter conditions like snow and sleet. If you're going to be engaging in rigorous activity, you may also want a layer of moisture-wicking material between you and your clothes.
But just because the clothes are functional doesn't mean they can't be fashionable. Many sporty winter fashions can be brightly colored with primary or sherbet hues. Parkas can have decorative zippers and patches that have reflective qualities.
Retailers like EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) or manufacturers like Patagonia sell clothing that are both fashionable and functional.
  6. Men's Winter Fashion Inspiration

  7. Read men's fashion, lifestyle and sports magazines to get inspiration on today's current styles. Periodicals like Esquire, GQ and Maxim feature men's fashion in each issue. Visit a bookstore or library to source the winter issues to learn about today's current winter fashions.
