If you like the look of all of the little decorative pieces for scrapbooking that you see in the store, you don't have to pay ridiculously high prices for them. You can save money and get exactly the right images and colors for your scrapbook and pictures by using shrink film. Shrink film can be used to turn an otherwise drab scrapbook page into one that really grabs your attention and gives the page a very personalized feel.

    Creating Charms

  1. You can create your own charms for your scrapbook pages by taking a sheet of the shrink film and sanding it with sandpaper or a sanding block. Trace the image of your choice, or stamp the film and dye with home décor ink as desired. Cut out the charms that you have created and bake for 3 to 4 minutes in a 300 degree F oven, unless the film's manufacturer specifies otherwise. Once cooled, these charms can be placed on matting or right on your pages, using your favorite scrapbook-safe glue or tape.
  2. Miniature Frames

  3. Create your own scrapbook frame or matting by using shrink film. Choose a color, or buy clear film to sand and apply color to, suiting your specific needs. Cut out the frame or mat size that you need, and bake in an oven for 3 to 4 minutes at 300 degrees F, unless otherwise specified by the film's manufacturer. Allow your creation to cool, and place it atop of the photo that you would like to frame on your page, using the scrapbook glue or tape of your choice.
  4. Creating Letters

  5. Scrapbook lettering can be quite costly when you buy it from your favorite shop. You can make your own instead. Choose the font that you would like from your computer, and trace or stamp it onto a sheet of shrink film. Dye the letters with home décor ink and carefully cut them out. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes in a 300 degree F oven, unless otherwise specified by the shrink film manufacturer. Allow the letters to cool, and affix them to your scrapbook with your preferred scrapbooking glue or tape for a wonderfully personalized look.
