Butterfly Costume Ideas
Butterflies are beautiful creatures, so it's no wonder that many people dress up like them for Halloween and other occasions. People of all ages can dress up as a butterfly, and it's not hard to create the ideal costume as long as you have the proper materials.

Body and Wings

The body of the butterfly can, ultimately, be anything. Wear a pretty dress or a shirt and pants of the same color. The wings, however, are the most important part of the costume. Butterfly wings can be purchased at many costume shops but can also easily be homemade in many different ways. One easy way is to take some cardboard, and cut it to the size and shape you desire. Cut fabric and attach it to the cardboard, or simply use paint to decorate it. Poke two holes vertical of each other, two on each side, and attach string so the wings will stay intact.
Accessories

The antennae is a signature part of the butterfly. These can also be purchased at many stores but are also extremely easy to make, so why not save a couple of pennies? Use pipe cleaners and twirl them around your finger so they spiral, then attach them to a headband or hat. If you wanted, you could attach a pom-pom to the end of each antenna. To make your costume even more beautiful, take gems and glitter and get creative with it.
Makeup and Hair

Makeup is optional for this costume, but it can add a special and personal touch if done correctly. Fake eyelashes and bright colors could bring a lot to your costume. As for hair, it can be styled in any way you desire, from down in waves to a fancy up-do.
