Flowers floating in a bowl of water add simple elegance. One mistake typically made at any reception are the tall floral centerpieces placed on the tables. Unless they are tall enough that they tower over your seated guests, they tend to discourage conversation around the table. Instead, consider low arrangements that are simple and elegant. For example, use a simple glass bowl filled with water. Float some flowers and leaves on top. Continue the decoration with a few petals and leaves scattered around the base of the bowl, and you have a simply elegant presentation. -
Float candles in a bowl of potpourri. Most reception halls are dark or have "mood" lighting. While that may make it difficult for your guests to see what they are eating, its a perfect reason to add candles to your wedding centerpiece. This can easily be accomplished with some hurricane vases and pillar candles. However, take that next step in creativity and think votive candles. They can be put in small holders and one placed at each setting. Or expand on the idea above and float your candles in water and surround them with potpourri. -
A faux manzanita branch can be seasonally decorated.Bring a touch of the outside in with a tree branch centerpiece. This is a great touch not only for winter weddings but for anytime. For this centerpiece, you should have a bare branch that has a good many smaller branches. Spray paint the branch white and place in a pot that is filled with rocks. String the branches with battery-operated lights. You can then place flowers, crystals or icicles on the branches depending on the season. Place the pot in the center of the table.
