Want to rock the bob? The bob haircut has come a long way, and there are different varieties. While short hair may seem low maintenance, a bob is usually work to keep up with unless you have naturally straight hair. Using hot tools such as a hair dryer and flat iron can damage hair, so always protect it with a thermal spray.

    Asymmetrical Bob

  1. This bob is shorter in the back and gradually gains length in the front as it frames the face. A center part works for every day, and a deep side part gives this style of bob a more trendy feel. The best way to style an asymmetrical bob is to blow hair dry and then follow with a flat iron, from root to tip. When you want to add oomph to your hairdo, go big on top. To gain volume, flip over while blow drying to add height at the roots. Add texture by twisting one side of hair and pinning it. A tiny braid randomly placed on one side also works well and is easy to do.
  2. Classic Bob

  3. The classic bob is all one length and hits right at the chin. While the approach is traditional, there are still a few hair styles to toy with. A thin headband creates a polished look. Up the ante by sporting a metallic or animal print variety. A small barrette also can be used to sweep up one side of hair, while the rest hangs for a dramatic look that is appropriate for a cocktail affair.
  4. The Lob (Long Bob)

  5. A long bob is any bob that extends past the chin, but does not skim the shoulders. In the beauty industry this is known as the "lob." This length allows more opportunities for various hair styles. In the summer, try parting hair on the side and weaving a French braid along the front of the hair that tapers off. Secure it with a bobby pin for a look that is modern and translates well for a garden wedding or casual outing with friends. Like with the classic bob, pinning one side back is an option, and you also can wear a headband while your hair boasts a deep side part.
