This scrapbook page describes a husband's Valentine's Day gift to his wife.
Before you begin your scrapbook, take a few minutes to plan out the pages. Decide on the narrative you want the book to tell, whether it's the story of how you met or a record of your favorite dates and events together. You might want to sketch out a few layouts on scrap paper, so that you can play around with your ideas---and nix any false starts---before you begin cutting and gluing. Scan through your photo albums and digital photo archives, and choose the photos that best represent to you the story you want to tell. (Make certain you don't use your only copy of a photo in the scrapbook.)
The materials don't have to be fancy or expensive, as long as the sentiments come from the heart.
Use quality materials, like archival-quality scrapbook papers and adhesives. You don't want your beautiful gift to fall apart in a few months because you decided to save a few pennies on glue. If you aren't certain which materials to buy, visit your local craft or scrapbook shop and talk with an employee---they'll guide you in the right direction.
When choosing papers and embellishments, keep the recipient's taste in mind as well as your own. Just because it's Valentine's Day doesn't mean your scrapbook needs to be all frills and pink candy hearts. You can go bold with red-and-white stripes, or a bit more dark and sexy with a black-and-red theme. Dark pink and chocolate brown make a modern, elegant color combo as well. For a classical or Victorian look, find vintage greeting cards, cut the illustrations from them and scatter them through the book.
