Knowing what to write on a graduation invitation is a simple matter. Include all important names, dates and locations. Address the envelope correctly. Unless otherwise indicated, graduation etiquette implies that invitees bring a gift.

    Wording

Include all important information on a graduation invitation. Wording is not as formal as for a wedding but not as informal as for a birthday party. Provide information consistent with general graduation etiquette. However, the limits of how to word that information are not strict. Invitations can be neatly handwritten or printed in a more formal font. Use black or blue ink.

An example of what to say on a high school graduation invitation is as follows: Write on the first line: "The Senior Class of (fill in school name)." On the second line, write, "(School Name) announces its Commencement Exercises." Write on the next line, spelled out, the day, date, year, and time. Be sure to spell all numbers, including the year. On the fourth line, write the location name (e.g., "McNichols Arena"). Write the city and state on the last line. Fully spell the state.
