    1. Properties and Effects of Lemon on the Liver

      • Lemons are known to be natural antiseptics, digestive aids and are full of vitamin C. Lemon, mixed with water is a very alkaline substance, and restores the body's PH balance. Lemons contain high amounts of vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant inside the body. The liver filters toxins from the blood; after the toxins are filtered out of the bloodstream, they turn into free radicals. Free radicals present a harmful effect on the liver; the vitamin C from a lemon and water mixture counteracts the effects from free radicals. Lemons aid in digestion by ensuring that all food gets digested; sometimes food particles find their way into the bloodstream and then to the liver. This puts a heavy strain on the liver causing the liver to need detoxing. The digestive aid of lemon juice prevents food from entering the bloodstream. Lemon juice cleans the liver by aiding in the removal of toxins that can build up in the liver.

If you weigh more the 150 lbs., squeeze the juice of a whole lemon into 8 oz. of water and follow the instructions previously stated.

      Additives

      • There are other ingredients that can be added to a lemon and water mixture. One tsp of cayenne pepper can be added. Cayenne pepper increases blood flow to the liver; the increase in blood flow aids the liver in filtering out toxins. Mixing Epsom salt with lemon and water acts as a total body detox. Epsom salt works as a laxative, detoxing with Epsom salt and lemon helps remove toxins from not only the liver but the whole body as well.
