Having a nervous stomach is a bothersome ailment at best. When your stomach is unsettled and you feel nervous all the time, it can be irritating as well as worrisome. There are many different methods by which a nervous stomach can be treated.

Common Problems

One remedy for a nervous stomach is to try and reduce the stress and tension in your life. Although sometimes this can be difficult, ridding yourself of even just a little bit of stress and tension can help alleviate the feeling of a nervous stomach. Meditation can also help relieve stress, which, in turn, can help you get rid of your nervous stomach. If your nervous stomach is caused by gas or bloating, taking an antacid like Tums or Rolaids can help alleviate your nervous stomach by reducing the bloating and gas. However, if you suffer from gas and bloating on a regular basis, you should seek medical advice to rule out a more serious condition.

Healthy Living

Eating a well balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and whole foods will help keep your body healthy and in balance. Regular exercise and enough sleep will also help to reduce the effects of stress and tension. Surround yourself with support and steer clear of negative influences.

Drink Tea

Drinking tea can relieve a nervous stomach. This is especially true if the tea you’re drinking contains ginger, peppermint, licorice or chamomile. There are certain teas on the market, such as those by Celestial Seasonings, that are made specifically for alleviating tension. One example is Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer tea.

Other Symptoms

Be aware of other symptoms associated with your nervous stomach. If you have constant acid reflux or bloating and gas problems, you may have a serious condition that should be treated by a doctor, such as irritable bowel syndrome or another serious condition. Always consult your doctor if you have any concerns about your symptoms.

Acid Reflux

Acid reflux can contribute to a nervous stomach as well. Sometimes lying on your left side can help reduce the amount of acid reflux you experience at night. If you frequently experience acid reflux problems, taking an acid reducer, such as Pepcid or Zantac, may help the problem.
