Acne is an exasperating condition for many men and women. There are many chemical treatments that claim to fight acne. However, many people do not know that natural remedies are available to help treat acne. Lavender is a natural antiseptic and astringent that has been used cosmetically for many years. Treat your acne with lavender cleansers, and use lavender oil on your pimples and in your bath.
Lavender Cleansers and Solutions
Choose a facial cleanser with lavender as its active ingredient. Lavender has a long tradition as a cleanser. In fact, the word, “lavender” is derived from the Latin word “lavare,” which means “to wash.” It is a natural antiseptic and astringent, or toner, that helps control surface oils. Lavender treats problematic skin conditions like acne and eczema without laboratory chemicals. Moreover, lavender solutions can be used on all types of skin.
Undiluted Lavender Essential Oil
Use undiluted lavender essential oil to treat large pimples that are on the verge of erupting. As an astringent, lavender contains your face’s surface oils that cause pimples to grow. Applying lavender essential oil to your pimple can be an effective treatment if nothing else works. However, take care not to apply lavender essential oil to your whole face. The solution is very concentrated and may not be suitable for all skin types.
For acne in areas other than your face, such as your arms and bath, use lavender oil in a bath. Place a few drops of lavender oil in a warm bath and soak in the tub for approximately 15 minutes. You may also choose to add bath salts. Scrub areas with acne with a loofah in a circular motion. Lavender is known to promote relaxation and counter stress. Take a lavender bath before you go to sleep for a good night’s rest. Acne is often a result of increased stress in your daily routine; relaxation and good sleep patterns can counter the negative effects of stress.
