- While it does not have mainstream success, pickleball is often played in gym class. This game is a mix between ping-pong and badminton and children will love playing with the oversized racquets. The rules are simple and the game is addictive once you learn the basic rules.
- Large groups can enjoy a game of floor hockey. No skates are needed for floor hockey, just a large collection of sticks and a rubber puck. The rubber puck works better than a rubber ball because it is controlled easier and will not roll away in multiple directions.
- Rather than wiffleball, kickball is an easier choice for players to enjoy. Simply give the ball a roll and have them kick it as far as they can. Throwing the ball at players for outs is optional, though now many gyms have changed it to below the waist only.
- Younger gym class members will love playing with a large colorful parachute. They can pick the parachute up, run underneath it, or have it spin around. There are a lot of parachute activities that can be enjoyed before the children learn more organized sports.
- Race across the gym floor on a small plastic scooters. Children learn to use their feet and move in different directions by using these scooters. Children can also turn a floor hockey game into scooter hockey with this equipment.
- Form teams for a classic game of volleyball. Beginner players can use an inflated ball for easier playing and more volleys, but advanced players will enjoy the real game. Children really learn teamwork in this sport, along with passes, spikes and overall jumping.
