Choosing the right colors for your wall can be a daunting task. Here are a few ways to get ideas and inspiration to find the perfect hue!

    Mother Nature

  1. Mother Nature is filled with color and sometimes the most beautiful shades you've ever seen. It could be as simple as the green leaves on the plant outside your window sill. When you are out and about look around you at plants, flowers, rocks or pieces of wood, this can help you pull your design and decor together. If you do find something, take it to your local hardware store and usually they can match it exactly or get pretty close to the shade you are looking for. If you are looking for more muted hues, choosing colors from rocks, or wood can help find a good neutral shade for your room.
  2. Crayons and Markers

  3. Grab a piece of paper and color using crayons, markers or even colored pencils. This is an easy way to see how different color tones and hues look on your wall. This is also a great way to find color inspiration if you are leaning towards bright, bold, colors. Are you decorating a kids room? Use bright red, orange and blue shades for inspiration. You can also mix and match water color paints to find the perfect wall color.
  4. Fabrics

  5. Go down to the local fabric store, or pull clothes out of your closet and use them to find shades to paint your wall. You can drape fabrics across your furniture to see how the colors look, or tack pieces of fabric to the walls to get an overall look. This is also a great way to see if stripes, patterns or more unconventional colors may be what you are looking for.
  6. Photographs

  7. Pictures, paintings and cut-outs from magazines are great places to get color inspiration for wall paint. You can also get ideas of what colors flow and look good together.
