Modern medicine recommends anti-parasite drugs for tapeworms, but many people prefer to use natural therapies in order to preserve the positive intestinal flora and avoid harsh, often unnecessary chemicals.

    Black Walnut Rind

  1. In herbology, a herb the expels parasites from the body is called a vermifuge. There are several of these herbs available in most health food stores, online or even in your own yard.
The thick, green rind that forms around the shell of black walnuts contain tannins. Tannins have an astringent quality that tones and heals the intestine while at the same time balancing the intestinal flora, making it inhospitable for unwanted parasites. In addition, tannins stimulate the bowels. The combination of activities means the tapeworm weakens, looses its grip on the intestines and then is flushed from the intestines through increased bowel function. You can purchase black walnut rind in many health food or herbal stores. The dose will be printed on the bottle.

If you harvest your own, typical dosage is 2-3 teaspoons of the fresh fruit rind, 1 -- 1.5 grams of the dried fruit rind or 1gram dried fruit rind extracted in 5ml alcohol base diluted with 5 ml water.
  2. Anti-Parasitic Foods

  3. Some foods also act as vermifuges. The most easily obtained of these natural anti-parasitic foods are fresh garlic, papaya and raw pumpkin seeds.
Fresh garlic has many restorative properties. Garlic lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, fights bacteria and viruses, and works as a vermafuge. If you're using garlic as part of a program to rid the body of tapeworms, it's best to eat several cloves of raw garlic daily. Some experts believe cooking or drying the garlic does not effect the anti-parasitic properties, but most agree that fresh, raw garlic is best for this purpose.
Raw pumpkin seeds seem to have the effect of expelling tapeworms from the human body. There has been little scientific research on this. However, people all over the world have experienced the death and expulsion of tapeworm, and other parasites, from eating moderate to large amounts of raw pumpkin seeds. In Germany, it is customary to treat tapeworms by eating six to 13 ounces of ground pumpkin seeds mixed with milk and honey. Studies in China show that parasitic disease can be treated with raw pumpkin seeds as well.
Papaya contains a proteolytic enzyme called papain. Papain helps break down proteins into amino acids and peptides. Traditionally, papaya fruit has been used to rid the body of tapeworms and other parasites. Researchers believe papaya fights tapeworms because their proteins are vulnerable to the digestive actions of papain.
  4. Colon Cleanse

  5. Whenever you're experiencing intestinal problems, it is wise to cleanse your colon. Through enemas, cleansing herbs and mild laxative herbs, tapeworms can be weakened and expelled from the body. Cayenne pepper, psyllium husks and bentonite clay are good for this purpose.
