The Best Ways to Get Rid of Unwanted Hairs

Thousands of women and men are plagued by unwanted hair. Common places where hair is not wanted are on the legs, underarms, face, neck and back. Because unwanted hair has the tendency to grow back very quickly (and even thicker than before in some cases), the best strategy would be to remove it in a way that will delay the growth for as long as possible.

    Pluck and Cream

  1. Many people choose to pluck stubborn facial hairs. In many cases, however, the hair will just grow right back (and thicker) within a day or two. There is a process that you have to go through to ensure that the hair goes away and stays away for as long as possible.

Wash your face thoroughly with an exfoliating cleanser that will remove excess dirt and oil. Pluck the hair from the root with a good pair of tweezers. Then apply a hair-growth inhibitor cream to the area. Thereafter, apply the inhibitor cream to the area twice a day---once at night and once when you wake. This will delay your hair's growth and could make it grow back as fine, vellus hair. You can try Emjoi inhibitor cream or a similar option at your local pharmacy. These creams, gels and lotions can be purchased over the counter or online. Or you can talk to your doctor about getting Vaniqa, a prescription hair-removal cream for unwanted facial hair. This cream blocks the enzymes that cause your hairs to grow.
  2. Nair

  3. When you're trying to get rid of unwanted hair in nonfacial regions, like the legs, underarms, bikini line and other "nether regions," use Nair or a similar hair removal cream. Get the bladeless shaving kit for ease---apply the cream, wait three minutes and then "shave" it off using the blade-free razor provided. You can also use an old rag or ripped T-shirt to remove the cream. Take a shower to wash off all traces of the cream.

The benefits of Nair (and other similarly formulated creams) are that it keeps the hair off for up to a week or more, the hair doesn't grow back as thick as compared to shaving and the cream does a deep cleaning of your pores to remove any unseen dirt. Your skin will be smooth and clean. Hair removal creams will also work on the back---you just need someone else to apply and remove the cream for you.
  4. Hair-Off Mitten

  5. The Hair-Off mitten is a useful hair removal product that allows you to "buff" hairs away. This option is best if you have relatively fine hair that you want to remove, such as on the legs, knuckles, toes or upper lip. Slip your fingers into the mitten and rub in a light circular motion on the area. The mitten buffs off the head of the hair and leaves the area smooth. Don't buff too hard or too much because it could cause irritation.
