Fundraising is often though of as being only for large groups. But individuals can also hold fundraisers for a favorite charity or to aid groups to which they belong. Planning, organization and getting the word out about the fundraiser are important elements for success with this type of project. Set a goal to earn. Plan what type of fundraiser to hold. Promote the fundraiser and evaluate the success when it's done.

    Walk-a-Thon

  1. A walk-a-thon involves walking a number of miles on a selected course for pledges. People will either sponsor you per lap, mile or given distance or donate a flat amount at the end of the walk. You can conduct a walk-a-thon at a local park, the local shopping mall or even through the main streets of your local town. Print pledge sheets on a regular computer at home. Promote in the local community activities section of your newspaper and with flyers. A walk-a-thon is a great way to earn fundraising money and can also be expanded easily to a larger group.
  2. Yard Sale

  3. A yard sale is a great way to get rid of clutter in your home. Have friends and family members donate items for the yard sale as well or enlist other families on your block to make the event a bigger draw. Post an ad in the local paper and place an ad in the online classifieds. Put up signs two nights prior to the yard sale. Be sure to advertise that the proceeds from the yard sale are for a specific cuase. You'll be pleasantly surprised how many people will buy something or offer cash donations for your yard sale fundraiser.
  4. Cookbook

  5. Do you have a collection of recipes you or family members have collected over the years? A cookbook is an easy fundraising idea for individuals. Simply type up the recipes in a word processing program. Take the pages to a print shop. Select a paper style, color and binding for the cookbook. Have several printed. Sell the cookbook to friends, family members, co-workers and other people in your community for slightly higher than it cost to print. Keep the originals clean and intact so that when you get low on the cookbooks, you can easily print some more. Mention to everyone the cookbook is for a fundraiser. Many people enjoy new recipes and are willing to buy a cookbook to support a good cause.
  6. Pet Services

  7. Are you good with dogs and cats? You can have an individual fundraiser of trimming nails, bathing and drying dogs and cats for people. Purchase the supplies and advertise in your community. Family, friends and community members may bring their pets to your home for you to groom. Again, be clear that all the proceeds go to the cause advertised.
  8. Yard Work

  9. Yard work is an easy individual fundraiser. Mow yards, trim and weed during the warmer months. In the colder months, you can rake leaves. Post flyers and advertise in your local community that you are willing to do yard work with the proceeds going to your charity of choice. People will love the idea of additional help and helping out with your cause.
