- Make a sheriff badge with cardboard and aluminum foil. Cut out a five or six point star with a diameter of approximately 4 inches. Cover the star with aluminum foil. Write "Sheriff" onto the front of the star with black glitter glue. Use a hot glue gun to attach a pin back to the back side of the badge. Allow the hot glue to dry, and the children can wear a sheriff badge. Alternatively, use the sheriff badge as a name tag and instead of the word "Sheriff" on the fronts of the badges, write each child's name in black glitter glue.
- Make western cowboy vests out of upside-down brown paper shopping bags. Cut a line down the center of one side of the bag from the top to the bottom. Cut a hole for each arm in each thin side of the grocery bag. Cut an opening large enough for the child's head in the bottom of the bag. Pass out materials for decorating the western cowboy vests, including markers, glitter glue, crayons, yarn, foam shapes, paints, stickers and stamps. Encourage imaginative decoration, including making buttons and patterns on the vests. Allow the vest decorations to dry before wearing the vests.
- Make a cowboy frame out of craft foam sheets. Cut two 5-by-7-inch pieces of craft foam. Cut a 4-by-6-inch opening in the center of one of the pieces of craft foam to create the frame. Staple the frame piece on top of the other craft foam piece along one long edge and both short edges. Glue cutout craft foam shapes such as green cacti, cowboy boots, lassos, horses and other cowboy objects to the frame. Slip a picture into the frame through the long edge left unstapled.
