It seems like only yesterday that Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones made his big screen debut in 1981. To this day, Indiana Jones remains one of the most popular film icons of all time. Indiana Jones has appeared in the films "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Temple of Doom," "Last Crusade," and "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." You can re-create Indiana Jones' adventures for your next birthday cake.

    Indiana Jones Imagery

  1. First get to know Indiana Jones. Including the most basic Indiana Jones imagery on your cake will make it easily recognizable. No Indiana Jones cake is complete without his hat, his whip and maybe a snake or two.
  2. The Setting

  3. The Indiana Jones films are known for their beautiful locations. Your cake should be no different. Before you start making the cake, figure out where you are putting Indiana Jones. Jones has traveled to the rain forest, been lost in temples and confronted aliens. Pick your favorite Jones film and base your cake around the main setting for the movie. Or, if you want to go a little easier, you can't go wrong with a desert and a palm tree.
  4. Bake the Cake

  5. If you are baking the cake yourself, find a recipe that works best for you, and make it. You'll be covering your cake in decorations, so whatever flavor you want is just fine. The point is to bake a cake that can easily be covered in all of your Indiana Jones paraphernalia. If you want to make a more complex creation, bake one cake as the base, and then carve other cakes into pyramids, or sand dunes,or even just other levels to place more Jones material on.
  6. Get a Cake Made

  7. Most cake shops, and even some ice cream parlors, will make custom cakes for you. Find a scene that you feel best captures your love of Indiana Jones. Bring in a still photo from the scene and have them screen it onto a cake for you. It's similar to putting a photograph on cake. A lot of places will let you bring in action figures, or other things along those lines, to add to the cake. You can always do that later when you bring the cake home.
