Fall is a wonderful time of year for a wedding. The rich oranges, yellows and burgundy colors of the season can easily be incorporated into centerpieces for a fall wedding. Consider using pumpkins, apples, maple leaves and gourds as a great start for a fall wedding centerpiece. Since fall is also represented by Halloween, Thanksgiving and the fall harvest, consider incorporating a theme in your do-it-yourself fall centerpieces.

    Natural Ideas

  1. Select a pumpkin that looks proportionate in the center of your guest tables. Use a power drill to carefully bore a few holes in the top of the pumpkin. Pour water into the pumpkin, and carefully insert cut flowers into the holes, making the pumpkin into a vase. Choose fall flowers such as burgundy and orange mums. Sprinkle silk maple leaves around the base of the pumpkin. Accent the fall centerpiece with mini pumpkins and gourds. If the wedding reception will be in a dimly lit room, consider staggering tea light candles around the base of the large pumpkin.
  2. Fall Holiday Ideas

  3. Play up the fall holidays with your centerpiece. Use a cornucopia brimming with gourds, mini pumpkins and/or corn with husks. Use the pumpkins as centerpieces and scatter edible candy corn around them for guests to nibble on as they await dinner. Place small plastic spiders on the pumpkin stem. Consider using battery operated tea light candles to illuminate the jack-o-lanterns for a long evening. In addition to your centerpiece, have the wedding party members give out small jack-o-lanterns carved with the first initial of the new last name of the married couple. They will look pretty scattered around your guest tables.

Celebrate the harvest season with an apple theme. Fill a large clear glass vessel with red, yellow and green apples. If possible, use fresh-picked apples from a local farm to save on expenses. Create a more rustic look with a few leaves and stems still attached. Consider sprinkling plump cranberries in with the apples, or creating a homemade garland of berries to drape on the vessel as an accent.
  4. Non-Perishable Idea

  5. For a non-perishable centerpiece that can be stored in a cool place before and after the wedding, choose a variety of candles in fall hues. Select short, fat, tall and skinny candles that coordinate with your wedding colors and accent them with ribbons in browns, oranges, golds and burgundy. Group the candles together on a clear glass plate in the center of the table, and scatter silk maple leaves around the base for a fun fall theme.
