While the exact origins of spaghetti are still in some dispute, the great taste of this classic Italian dish is not. Spaghetti is properly a long, cylindrical, flour-based noodle, usually packaged and sold in a dried form. In practice, though, spaghetti is a dish consisting of the pasta, a tomato sauce, and often some type of beef, fowl, or seafood. The sauce is the key to any great spaghetti dinner. Grandmother’s famous recipe is a heavily guarded secret brought over from the old country and passed down from generation to generation.

In this free Italian food cooking video series, learn how to make a basic homemade spaghetti dinner recipe of your own. Our expert cook will walk you through the preparation, including a list of ingredients, spices and seasonings, how to chop, cut and slice the vegetables, how to brown the ground beef, cook the pasta, and what it should look like when you’re finished. Then try some variations on our dish and come up with your own homemade spaghetti recipe.
