Different cultures have different values when it comes to dining etiquette or table manners, but in the United States we tend to focus mainly on the proper use, sharing and passing of bowls, cups and plates as well as uniform use of utensils. Most of us have been instilled with a certain standard set of table manners as children, being reminded by our mothers and fathers to restrain from chewing with our mouths full or resting elbows on the table. We also learn as we get older that there are certain forks for certain dishes and that there are proper times to eat and proper times to wait for others to begin before we start using our utensils to cut and enjoy our food. Formal etiquette classes and instructions exist, but many of us either learn by example or through accidental coaching (being corrected) in formal dining situations.

In this free online instructional video series, our expert will save you from embarrassing faux pas at the dining table or four star restaurant by showing you the ins and outs of dining etiquette. See exactly where those forks and knives belong in respect to your napkin and plate, learn when it's ok to begin eating, how to handle leftovers at a host's home, tips for good posture and methods for choosing, serving and sharing wine with a dinner table full of loved ones or business associates.
