Gymnastics is a sport that involves a sequence of movements and exercises that require strength and flexibility. Typical gymnastic moves include handsprings, handstands, forward rolls, tucks, somersaults, vaults and other acrobatic maneuvers. Competitive gymnastics, like those in the Olympics, take a lot of dedication and practice. There are many types of gymnastics including: artistic, rhythmic, sports aerobics, sports acrobatics, trampoline, and power tumbling. These are all regulated by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique. The two most popular types of gymnastics are artistic and rhythmic gymnastics; these are the types seen in the Summer Olympic Games. Yin Eloy Alvarez Yin Eloy Alvarez is a professional gymnastics coach who opened Universal Gymnastics located in Miami, Florida in 1995 with the intent of training internationally competitive gymnasts. His teams have been built from the ground up and in a short time they have become the teams to beat at the state, regional and national competitions. Alvarez created an environment of excellence, where all children are welcomed to learn the skills of a gymnast. He grew up in the sport, attending the National School of Gymnastics in Havana, Cuba and he competed internationally as a member of the Cuban National Team.
