About the Presenter

Nancy McGown Minor Nancy McGown Minor is a historian of the Lipan Tribe of Texas. She graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and has a master’s degree from Texas State University in San Marcos. Minor has spent the last five years studying the history and culture of the Lipans of Texas and northern Mexico. Her published work is "Chevato," which records the oral history of a Lipan shaman from Zaragosa, Coahuila who brought the peyote ceremony to the Comanches and Kiowas, and helped found the Native American Church. Minor has also completed an ethno-history of Lipan culture and is working on a comprehensive tribal history. She became involved with Lipans in 2003 and with the Lipan Tribe in 2007, when she was appointed tribal historian.dkdk
