The drum is perhaps the oldest known musical instrument and its basic design has not changed in thousands of years. Far from today’s uses as a percussive foundation for pop music or for fueling marching band excitement, drumming has a more profound history as a method of communication, and as an implement of religious symbolism. In this free video series, learn some of the various drumming styles from an experienced drummer. He explains playing hi-hat, rim clicks and toms on the eight note on drums and about opening the hi-hat. Then he discusses playing rim clicks which is just playing the outer rim of a drum head. Finally, he moves on to playing the toms and incorporating two toms and the floor tom together.
