Glassblowing is the art of creating man-made glass objects with the skillful use of furnaces, a variety of ingredients, and a blowpipe. A selection of tools and instruments may be used to add details to the glass or shape it. Glassblowing techniques may be used to create a wide range of artistic pieces, including decorations such as Christmas ornaments (baubles).

In this free video clip series, our expert will demonstrate basic ornament-making techniques using a glassblower, tips for adding texture and decoration to glass ornaments, as well as safety tips for glassblowing and several special procedures for beautiful gifts and ornaments.

 
About the Presenter

Ana Willow Obermayr Ana Willow Obermayr, a fourth generation artist in the Obermayr family, has been blowing glass since 1994. She received her early training in Seattle Washington where she studied at Pilchuck Glass School and Pratt Fine Arts Center.<BR /><BR />She completed her seven-year apprenticeship with Greg Englesby. She worked at the Glass Eye Studio and worked with many of the world's finest glass artists. <BR /><BR />Now based in Miami, Florida, she sells and travels her artwork around the world. dkdk
