A defroster is a device for clearing condensation from a window, and is also useful for melting frost, ice, and snow that has collected on the window surface. They commonly exist in automobiles in two basic varieties. One type, commonly used on a vehicle's rear window, consists of an array of heating elements attached in very narrow strips to the window interior. These strips connect at both ends to wider vertical bars at the sides of the window, to which electrical contacts are applied to connect it to the supply wires.

In this free video series on car repair and maintenance, an automotive expert will teach you everything you need to know about rear defroster grid repairs. You'll learn what tools you need, how to diagnose a bad defroster grid, how to prep glass for defroster repairs, and how to install stencil for defroster repairs. With these tips and techniques, you can make sure that you keep driving safely and driving with good vision, as you'll learn to keep your rear defroster working properly!
