The origins of the hula hoop are unknown but for thousands of years hoops have been used as toys for children to play with. At different times in our history they have been made of different materials. around 3000 years ago in the Egyptian cultures they were usually made of grapevines or some other form of hard reed. Today they are made almost completely of plastic and children swing them around their hips, limbs and neck and have also developed numerous tricks with them.

Sisters Kamala and Hannah Fire Groove Sisters Kamala and Hannah first found fire dance in 2002. After only a year of spinning poi, they began teaching and performing professionally in Los Angeles. Combining their yoga training with their love of spinning, they founded Indra Yoga & Dance. After two successful years, their brother Lester joined the team and Fire Groove was born. The sibling trio expanded their curriculum to include classes in staff, double staff, contact staff, hoop, fire eating and fans. In addition to teaching their own classes, Fire Groove became known for hosting some of the most successful workshops in the country, featuring the worlds best spinners. Fire performance also played a huge role in the company and has allowed them to perform worldwide for royalty and celebrities. Long-time family friend Jade joined the team in 2006 and helped Fire Groove launch their product line including fire, glow and practice tools.
