Many scholars believe we live in a post-literate world, a culture where reading is less important than it once was. Advertisements, the internet, picture menus at fastfood restaurants—they all point to a world in which reading has become a thing of the past. Then again, living in America and not being able to read is a tragedy. If we promise “no child left behind,” how dare we let kids graduate without learning how to read? Teaching our kids to read is the responsibility of parents and teachers. We all need to spend time reading with kids and playing games that will encourage a better grasp of spelling, grammar, and fundamental language skills.

In this free video series, expert Katalin Toth shows you nine different games to play with your kids to help them read better. You will learn how to spell words on their backs, how to write sentences backwards, how to play “fill in the blank,” and several other games. Katalin shows you how to get kids involved in reading by making it fun. She will show you games like “throwing dice,” “missing letters,” and others that keep kids engaged. These are great for home or the classroom!
