Learning how to speak Chinese is one of the most difficult linguistic tasks a Westerner can undertake. The level of precision required in pronunciation of Chinese words is mind boggling. Additionally, writing Chinese characters is no easy task. The Chinese have one of the oldest forms of writing as well called calligraphy. This is a very difficult and complex series of lines, dots and characters that make up the Chinese alphabet. Be that as it may, it is not impossible to learn how to pronounce and how to write Chinese characters - especially if you have an expert teach you how.

In this free video series of language lessons, learn how to speak and how to write Chinese characters from expert Esther-Xiaohua Liu. Esther-Xiaohua Liu Esther-Xiaohua Liu is a graduate student and teaching assistant with a major in Chinese Literature and Languages at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has taught Chinese at Shaanxi Normal University, Chang'an University and Xi'an Conservatory College in China. In the United States, Liu has taught Chinese to students at Northwestern University's Xiling Chinese school and the Chinese American League of Chicago.
