The drum is perhaps the oldest known musical instrument and its basic design has not changed in thousands of years. Far from today’s uses as a percussive foundation for pop music or for fueling marching band excitement, drumming has a more profound history as a method of communication, and as an implement of religious symbolism.
In this free video series our expert Patrick Sapia will show you how to play several basic drum beats. He will teach you how to play the cymbals, hi hats, ride cymbals, snare, and toms. Patrick will teach you how to play a swing beat, a shuffle beat, a disco beat, a Cha Cha beat, and a Rhumba beat. He will even show yo how to play several types of jazz beats.
Pat Louis Patrick L. Sapia is a Singer, Actor, Comic, Impressionist, Writer, and Drummer based in Miami, Florida. He has been in Show Business for 52 years, starting with The Columbia Boy’s Choir in Princeton, N.J. As a young man he formed The School Quartet, The Off Keys, who recorded two singles. He was accepted by the USO and has toured Europe and The Far East. He did 10 years of summer stock Musical Productions, and toured the U.S. and Canada as the Front Man for the 6 piece show group The Turning Point, and the 14 piece group Kaleidoscope.dkdk
