Mosaics have been used since ancient times to decorate the interior walls, floors and ceilings of structures, from dwellings to sacred temples. Mosaic art is comprised of tiny pieces of glass, stone or other materials arranged into a decorative pattern or design to create a picture or simply as a decorative surface. Some of the most impressive mosaics can be found in the ancient structures of the Roman & Byzantine Empires, as well as modern subway stations and parks.

Kathleen Dalrymple Kathy Dalrymple’s love of Texas, and especially the Texas Hill Country, is evident in her artwork. Kathy received a BA in fine arts from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. Her area of concentration was Printmaking with the emphasis of her work being Serigraphy. Through the years she has experimented in all media but became interested in mosaics about 7 years ago. The majority of her work now is glass on glass mosaics with most pieces being in a format to hang as a stained glass window. In addition to incorporating both new and vintage stained glass, her pieces utilize vintage rhinestones and glass jewels, beads, rocks, buttons, pearls, glass globs, shells, etc. She also combines pieces of glass that she has hand painted with glass enamels in order to add to the detail, as well as the uniqueness.

email: dalrympl06@sbcglobal.net
website: http://kathleendalrymple-glassartist.blogspot.com/dkdk
