Kung Fu is a form of martial arts that is native to China and based heavily in tradition. According to tradition, forms of martial arts are traced as far back as the 12th century BC. The term “Kung Fu” was first heard in Western countries in the 20th century and was wildly popularized by Hong Kong films in the 1960s. Kung Fu involves various philosophies suggesting deeper meaning than just the fighting style. For instance, for a process to be truly Kung Fu, the student must show motivation, self-discipline, and time.

Yun Yang Wang Master Yun Yang Wang holds classes in Northern Shaolin/Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu and Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan at Wang's Martial Arts in Humble, Texas. He has been teaching for over 36 years. At the age of 12, he trained in the art of Chinese Kung Fu in Ichnon, Korea. In 1968 he came to the United States and attended the University of Houston. From 1973 to 1983 he served as Assistant Instructor for Grand Master Victor Cheng at Victor Cheng Chinese Martial Arts Institute in Houston, Texas. From 1983 to present, Master Yun Yang Wang has been owner and chief instructor of Wang's Martial Arts. During this time approximately 4,000 students have been trained, producing over 200 Black Belts.
