The canoe has been used for thousands of years to explore and trade upon waterways and seas. Though motorboats have, for the most part, replaced the canoe for commercial trade canoes and kayaks are very popular as recreational water craft. Additionally there remains many places that cannot be explored and whitewater that cannot be conquered in a motorized watercraft; not to mention that traveling by canoe or by kayak can be quieter and more tranquil than a boat with a loud gas or diesel engine. A canoe or kayak can be used by two or more persons depending on the size of the vessel. It is easy, fun, and sometimes comical to learn canoeing and kayaking, but it is important to learn necessary safety equipment and techniques before getting into the water.
In this free online video series learn from canoeing instructors Ray Temeyer, Ben Temeyer, and Antonio Dell'Aglio as they teach safety tips and demonstrate canoeing and kayaki techniques such as: proper use of la life-jacket, where to find a certified lifejacket, essential supplies, safety precautions, how to correctly paddle with one and two persons, how to paddle a kayak, how to transport a canoe by hand for short and long distances, and how to be aware of the wind.
Ray Temeyer & Co. Ray Temeyer (and his wife, Jeanie) has been running snorkeling, sailing and scuba diving charters out of Miami and the Bahamas for the last 27 years. Ben Temeyer & Antonio Dell'Aglio work with the business as well. Ray and his wife, Jeanie, own the sixty five foot ketch rigged sailboat, the Avalon. The Avalon has six, two passenger cabins for twelve guests so it is just right for families or small groups of friends. The charters depart out of Freeport, Grand Bahama or Nassau, Bahamas. The charters are customized to fit the desires and needs of the guests. Some of the activities that are possible are snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, island exploring, beach combing, shelling, and just plain relaxing in the laid back atmosphere of remote tropical islands. In 2007, Ray & Jeanie also plan to offer Kayaking, with the Avalon as a platform to explore the thousands of miles of pristine waterways that wind through the mangroves of the Bahamas.<BR />dkdk
