To see the mysteries of the world under water…to visit the Great Barrier Reef one last time, before it fades away…to enjoy a week’s vacation in the Bahamas, sipping fruity drinks and checking out the local aquatic wildlife: all of these are reasons why people snorkel. Snorkeling is an activity where you swim just under the surface of the ocean, allowing you to leisurely view the activity just below you. Snorkeling usually requires a mask, to keep your eyes clear, snorkels, so that you can breathe underwater, and swim fins, to help you move along a little faster than normal.
In this free instructional video series, learn all of the basics of snorkeling. Our expert will tell you how to buy the right equipment, including a mask that fits properly. He’ll also show you how to keep your mask from fogging up, a common snorkeling problem. From there, learn how to enter the water properly, clear your snorkel, free-dive, signal if you’re in trouble, and avoid safety hazards like boats or sensitive environments.
Ray Temeyer & Valerie Kevorkian Ray Temeyer (and his wife, Jeanie) have been running snorkeling, sailing, and scuba diving charters out of Miami and the Bahamas for the last 27 years. Valerie Kevorkian is the owner of Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center in Miami Beach, FL. Ray and his wife own a sixty five foot ketch rigged sailboat called the Avalon. The Avalon has six, two passenger cabins for twelve guests, so it is just right for families or small groups of friends. The charters depart out of Freeport, Grand Bahama, or Nassau, Bahamas. The charters are customized to fit the desires and needs of the guests. Some of the activities that are possible are snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, island exploring, beach combing, shelling, and just plain relaxing in the laid back atmosphere of remote tropical islands. In 2007, Ray & Jeanie also plan to offer kayaking, with the Avalon as a platform to explore the thousands of miles of pristine waterways that wind through the mangroves of the Bahamas. dkdk
