Though Musselburgh, Scotland is home to The Old Links, oldest golf course in the world, golf is rumored to have begun in the Netherlands in 1297. After seven hundred years it still follows the same basic premise: hit a ball into a hole using a stick; the person who gets it in the least number of hits, wins.

Golf is more a game of finesse than brute force; over its long history of play, it has developed a refined set of procedures and traditions of etiquette that are still adhered to by both amateur and professional golfers today. Before you set foot on a golf course, an arena for one of the finest games of skill known to man, you are expected to already know these guidelines. And Golfing etiquette isn’t only an established set of manners for golfers to follow; it also helps facilitate proper, enjoyable game play for the many people sharing 18 holes.

In this free instructional video series, our expert, a former all-American golfer, 10 year teaching professional, and lifelong student of the game, will guide you along the path of proper golfing etiquette. Tips include proper golf cart use, course attire, replacing divots, entering and exiting the course, raking bunkers, tee box manners, club and shot readiness, tending the flag stick, etiquette on the green, playing through, and provisional shots.
