Series Summary
Kung Fu, which began as a Chinese form of boxing, has over 800 styles. Shaolin kung fu refers to a style of the martial art that originated at the Shaolin Monastery in China. However, the term has evolved, encompassing fighting styles and forms that are not necessarily associated with the monastery. The Southern Shaolin style of kung fu fighting features low body stances and emphasizes hand-to-hand, close-quarter combat. Southern kung fu masters focus on building body strength and teaching effective self-defense techniques.
