Self defense is for the faint of heart! Most people don't want to fight, but when cornered the ability to defend yourself is essential. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art form that takes place primarily on the ground - where most street fights end up. Leg chokes are a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu mainstay and are very effective for bringing your opponent to complete submission. However, leg chokes deprive the brain of blood and can cause unconsciousness or death; so take care when practicing any choke hold, even in defending yourself from an attacker. That said, the leg choke can be an effective technique for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions or protecting yourself or loved ones from an attacker.

In this free video series, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert Karun Fiederer will teach you how to apply a triangle leg choke. Karun and his martial arts colleagues demonstrate how to position your legs to do a triangle leg choke and how to apply increased pressure. Not every leg choke works, so continuations are necessary to keep the initiative in the fight. Wrist locks and leg sweeps are necessary to keep the offensive when a choke hold fails. Karun will teach you not only how an opponent can break a triangle leg choke, but what you can do to defeat their defense.
