Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants of similar weight fight each other using only their fists. Boxing today is conducted in a regulated way, usually in a series of one to three-minute intervals called rounds. A winner is determined if the opponent is knocked down and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten, or if the opponent is deemed too injured to continue. If there is no stoppage of the fight before an agreed number of rounds, a winner is determined either by the referee's decision or by the scorecards of judges.
The art of footwork in boxing is one of the more under-appreciated aspects of the sport. With proper movement and positioning, a boxer can avoid clean punches from their opponent, and set themselves up for better attacks of their own. In this free video series, a boxing expert will teach you how to practice and perform proper techniques of boxing footwork. You'll start with the basic stance, and move on to half steps, moving left and right, and eventually on to dipping, bobbing, and weaving. With these techniques, you'll be able to dance around the ring with the greatest of ease and purpose.
