Series Summary

Are you tired of the same old thing for dinner every night? Food in a bucket doing a number on your waistline, eh? Well take a little break from your routine and invest a few minutes in learning how to make some traditional Asian cuisine. Our expert chef, Ian McSwain, will guide you step-by-step through two easy Japanese recipes.

The first recipe is a vegetable tempura dish. Essentially deep fried vegetables, tempura comes to the Japanese by way of a Portuguese influence many years ago. Although vegetable tempura is a fried food, technically you are getting your veggies. It is definitely a more healthy choice than French fries or fried chicken, especially if you just have to have something fried.

The second recipe is a ginger orange chicken creation. This dish is great for a meal that’s just slightly out of the ordinary. The strong flavors imparted by the ginger and orange take the chicken to the next level. Served on a bed of rice with a little bit of dipping sauce, ginger orange chicken certainly satisfies.

So try these two dishes from Japanese cuisine and see if you can’t devise a better way to live…if not at least a better way to eat.
