Summary: I'm going to show you how to build your own terrarium. on 4/7/2009 I love this idea! Can I make one of these in an open bowl or does it have to be a fishbowl? I have a bowl the size of the one used here but without the "ceiling" enclosure over the plants. I realize that I would have to pay more attention to the water levels in mine without the enclosure to lock in the evaporated water but would it still work?

on 12/15/2008 You're right! It's best not to get water on African violet leaves. That was a mistake on my part. If you have a plant in your terrarium that doesn't like wet foliage, you can put water in a turkey baster and then apply the water right at the base of the plant.

on 12/14/2008 I thought you couldn't get water on an African Violet's leaves. I'm confused.... she just poured the water right over top of it!
